NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTION:

BONNIE FAVORITE
(she/her) has been a Unitarian Universalist for about 30 years. She was looking for a local faith community in which she could find friends, experience the joy of fellowship, and be of service to the community. She grew up in eastern NC, but has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Belgium and now lives in Mebane. Bonnie says that she knew the The Community Church was the right fit for her when she "read online about the various opportunities for fellowship and service through The Community Church and when I attended the Exploring Membership classes. Your work with refugees and your openness to individuals with disabilities both resonate strongly with me. Your mission encompasses respect for diverse religious traditions, ethical engagement in the world, and mutual support both within and beyond this church community. All of these are consistent with my personal mission in life, which is to make the world a more just and compassionate place." WELCOME, BONNIE!

Are you considering Membership? Interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism, or our church community?

She handed over the responsibilities (and official stapler!) of the Congregational Administrator to Harrison Gray, the newest member of our staff. The congregation celebrated the transition with sweet summer treats.

Thank you, Rev. Alison! Welcome back, Rev. Thom! On April 3, 2022, the Welcoming Ministry hosted a reception for the entire congregation, thanking Rev. Alison Wilbur Eskildsen for her wise and dedicated leadership during Rev. Thom's well-deserved sabbatical, as well as welcoming Rev. Thom back into the pulpit. It was fun, festive, beautiful and delicious!

SUNDAY SMALL GROUP SOCIAL (formerly Online Coffee Hour) CONTINUES at 12PM! Please join Rachel Rose for this important time of connection. We meet via a new, secure link  contained in the Friday Weekly Announcements and in the Sunday Service Reminders. We have an icebreaker, be assigned into random groups (it's fun!) and have a time of sharing and fellowship, followed by a closing reading. We hope to see you there!

HELP MAKE SUNDAY MORNINGS HAPPEN - BECOME A GREETER! Our church is busy, and we need folks to help welcome people - both newcomers and longtime members - into our church on Sunday morning... and we have many Greeter spaces open over the next few weeks! Please take a moment to sign up below, and help new people see what our community is really like. Please join us when you can for this simple, but important work. Thanks so much - your help is appreciated!
SIGN UP TO BE A GREETER IN THE COMING MONTHS!

HOT COCOA & WHEELS (-Distancing):
2/14/21, 2-3PM

We hope you can join us! Weather-permitting, we will meet in socially-distanced assigned (& rotating!) spots in the large parking lot at church for a fun (and tasty!) social event, including hot cocoa, fun and fellowship. For kids, we are introducing "wheels-distancing". Kids can bring their wheels -- bikes, trikes, scooters, and skate boards and ride around an adjacent area of the parking lot for fun. For safety and Phase 3 compliance, there is a strict guest number limit, and registration is required.

THE COMMUNITY CHURCH COOKBOOK 2020:
COPIES STILL AVAILABLE!

There are still copies available of The Community Church Cookbook 2020! It contains 130+ tantalizing recipes from dozens of enthusiastic contributors in our congregation. This cookbook, the first to our knowledge, will enhance our virtual connections through sharing beloved recipes, some that are familiar favorites on the Jones Building buffet tables, and some that are intriguingly idiosyncratic.

Order your cookbooks here - Scroll down to "Cook Book" under "One-Time Donations), or you may pay by check. The price per book is $15. Proceeds will help close the Gap for the Building Project! Please look in the Weekly Announcements for information on picking up your order. If you have any questions, email us here.
