Gertrude Willis Lifespan Religious Education Award
2023 Recipients - Bronwen Blass, Chair, Children's Ministry and Heather O'Connor, Chair, Youth Ministry Named for Dr. Gertrude Willis, a founding member of the congregation and passionate advocate for children, the Gertrude Willis Lifespan Religious Education Award is presented annually to members and ministries who make significant contributions to religious education in the congregation. We honor Bronwen Blass, the chair of the Children's Ministry Team and Heather O'Connor the chair of the Youth Ministry Team for their significant leadership in Religious Education during the pandemic and in the transition back to in-person church. 2023 Recipient - Melva Okun, Reproductive Justice Task Force
Named for long-time Community Church members and dedicated activists who worked to change the world locally and internationally, the Joe & Lucy Straley “Beyond These Walls” Award is presented to a member or ministry in our church who lives our Unitarian Universalist values in the larger world.
This year’s award is presented to Melva Okun, honoring her work with the Reproductive Justice Task Force of our church.
