Program Philosophy
The Children and Youth Ministry Program is worship based. No matter the age, worship is central to the church experience. Beginning with the Pre-K classes through high school, our children and youth worship together each week. The program is organized into small ministry groups so the children and youth can get to know and build community with their age mates and worship together.
Our ministry program emphasizes worship, community and service -- all grounded in the fundamental tenets of Unitarian Universalism. Parents are the primary source of religious guidance for children and youth. The church’s role is to provide a strong community to support families. So you will find an emphasis on whole family programming at The Community Church with many opportunities for you to worship, learn and serve together with your children.
We affirm that children and youth are spiritual beings and have a need for religious community. We strive to nurture genuine religious community for young people which allows them to bond together but also bond with people of different generations. We emphasize the development of spiritual practices for children and youth so that they can deepen their spiritual lives.
We affirm that children and youth need continuity to build community so the staff and volunteers who work with children and youth regularly have made a commitment to be there on a regular basis so that the relationship can be built and strengthened over the year and over multiple years.
