CHALICE circles 2025
COMMITMENT to a shared spiritual journey
In CONNECTION with others
In beloved COMMUNITY
Are you seeking a closer connection to other church members? One that goes beyond coffee hour chit-chat and explores some of the major issues of life? If so, Chalice Circles may be what you're looking for....
Our Chalice Circle program will return in January 2025 with a new format. Chalice Circles will be offered twice per month, on the third Thursday evening and the fourth Saturday morning. Chalice Circles will begin with everyone gathered together for a chalice lighting and opening reading. Then we will break out into smaller groups for about an hour before returning to the large group for a closing. Chalice Circles are an opportunity for connection that emphasizes the practices of deep listening and vulnerable sharing around a monthly spiritual topic. The topics for first 3 months are Hope, Ancestors and Peace
Why the change in format? While the Chalice Circle program has been an important part of our community, we have observed a few trends over recent years. These trends have included:
• Fewer people able to commit to attending every month
• Groups fizzling out mid-year
• A lack of a way for new people to join after the program has launched.
We are experimenting with whether this new flexible format will help address these trends.

"The art of listening is neither careless drifting on the one hand nor fearful clinging on the other. It consists in being sensitive to each moment, in regarding it as utterly new and unique, in having the mind open and wholly receptive." ~Alan Watts
"Listening requires that we make a conscious decision to put ourselves aside and be fully present to another. We empty ourselves of judgments, thoughts and opinions, simply opening space for the other to unfold. It is really a sacred experience, if you will, a time of oneness with another. We can practice deep listening to ourselves in the same way...quieting our minds, letting go of our judgments and allowing our deepest knowings and thoughts to arise." ~Barbara Green, founder of "Listening For Life"
