Community Church Instrumentalists
We are blessed to have a wide range of instrumental musicians, as well as vocalists, in the church community, ranging from long-time professional musicians to passionate amateurs. An effort is made to include them in Sunday services whenever possible and appropriate.
For instance, for services with more contemporary music, a group will be created with drumset, bass guitar or ukulele, tenor sax, guitar and keyboard. For services appropriate for classical music you may see a group including flute, clarinet, viola, cello and piano. All instrumentalists are welcome, and Glenn will work to find and arrange music to include as many players as possible. For instance, in past years musicians have formed an ad hoc “Praise Band” to play for services with a lot of rock, pop or Gospel music. A group of string and woodwind players came together to offer classical music for a few services. An ad hoc jazz band was formed for our New Orleans flavored services auction. And often a bassist, guitarist or drummer will be recruited to enhance certain music. We’ve even had someone play the bagpipes at our annual Music Gala last year! So the opportunities and possibilities are endless. Contact music director Glenn Mehrbach ([email protected]) for more details. |
