Parent Cooperative Requirement
Parent Cooperative Policy
The Ministry Program for Children and Youth is a Parent Cooperative. Parents of registered children and youth are expected to volunteer in the program in some way after the family has been in the church for one year. One parent per family is expected to participate. If more than one parent wants to be involved, that is welcomed, of course. Some parents like to volunteer together and that is also welcomed.
There are exceptions to the participation requirement.
There are a variety of family situations which make participating in the cooperative difficult, including work schedules, a new baby, custody situations, illness, the parent is a school teacher and many others.
The parent cooperative should not be an impediment to a child's participation in the program.
So if you are not able to participate in the cooperative, please contact Marion Hirsch, the Director of Religious Education for an exemption. Also contact Marion Hirsch if you have a special skill to offer or would like to work on a special project.
