A Message from the Board
Dear Fellow Congregants,
As we embark on the Annual Pledge Drive the members of the Board of Trustees invite you to join us in committing to take these steps:
Board members are very dedicated to our Church and its wonderful Mission. Our feelings about the Church are deeply personal:
When asked about my religious affiliation, I am proud to say I am a member of The Community Church. I enjoy telling others about the legacy of our Church as well as expanding on the reasons that this Church means so much to me.
Our family has graduated from trying out the Church to making it a powerful and restorative ritual in our lives. We feel the need (like you) to keep this resource available for ourselves and the next family in search of a spiritual home.
The Community Church is where I go when I need support or want to celebrate. It is my community that comes to my assistance when I need it. It is a place of worship, centering, personal growth and friendship. It has helped me to raise my child into a loving, caring and critically thinking young adult.
At first I felt joy in the good things the Church was doing for me. Then I saw what the community of the Church was doing for us together. Now I see the boundless good we can do to make the world beyond our Church community a better place.
We’re sure that you too have a personal story about your connection to the Church. We hope you’ll take the time during this month to share your story with others.
Our congregation is growing in number and vitality. We are very fortunate to have found such an energetic, capable and dedicated Minister in Thom Belote. The Board is looking forward to the coming year with enthusiasm.
We belong to this congregation because of the amazing, transformative things we do together. We belong because of the incredible people that are here making it happen, people like you. Let’s all make sure we have the resources we need to keep these good things going – and can expand them to make an even greater difference in the lives of our adults, children, partners in the community, and the people in Chapel Hill and in our state who need our support.
As one of our Board members said:
Where I make my donations reflects my values. I can think of no organization that reflects my values better than The Community Church. That is why I aspire to be a transformer—to transform our church, our community and our world.
With gratitude and anticipation of a successful Annual Pledge Drive,

As we embark on the Annual Pledge Drive the members of the Board of Trustees invite you to join us in committing to take these steps:
- We are participating in Cottage Meetings: gatherings of friends to talk about the congregation and what it means to us. There will also be refreshments and time for socializing, which we all like to do.
- We are taking a fresh look at how we determine our pledge by using the Suggested Fair Contribution Guide. It is a flexible tool that gives us the chance to connect our level of commitment to the Church with our adjusted income to decide what our pledge should be. A copy of the guide will be provided with your pledge form. We want you to know how it works and to understand what you might experience when you use it. Please join us in being as thoughtful and generous as you can be.
- We are completing our pledges in the first few days of March and hope to encourage you to finish your deliberations and make your pledge before the end of the month.
