Pledge Drive Testimonial from Maureen O'Rourke
In March of 2015 Shannon and I were married in the Community Church of Chapel Hill by the Rev. Thom and many of you were present to witness our wedding. Oh! Happy Day! What a celebration! Looking out at all of you who came will remain in my heart forever. When Shannon and I arrived in
Chapel Hill in the fall of 2009 we were intent on finding community. The Community Church is our coming home. Love, gratitude and generosity are the words I use in describing what this church means to me. Entry into this holy place puts a smile on my face for this is where I want to be every Sunday to feel the love. I have gratitude that I found you and the giving keeps giving going back and forth and will continue to do so. Shannon and I are staying. This is where we want to be. We want to keep the garden growing. How does one put a dollar amount to love and gratitude? Generosity, the idea of pledging is new to me. How much should I pledge?
I make $24,000 a year. I am in good health, car is paid for, my half of mortgage is $421 and I live in Chatham County. In fiscal year 2016-2017
Shannon and I together are pledging $2000. We want to do our share, to make a contribution that says thanks for being here, thank you for offering me this beautiful sanctuary, thank you for the fellow ship in the Jones building, and thank you Thom and the Welcoming committee for your outreach to folks who are discovering our church. We want to plant seeds of gratitude to our staff for their time, energy and effort. To plant seeds to ensure the amazing programs offered by our church community continue. So yes dear readers I am urging you to pledge generously to our church. Let us grow our garden by compensating our staff, providing monies so our ministries can continue to move us. Our church is healthy, thriving and vibrant so let us give thanks to what we have by giving generously to the church that gives so much to us.
