One-Time Family EventsAll Church Picnic
Saturday September 10, 2016 New Hope Camp & Conference Center 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. ~Rain or Shine~ New Hope Camp is located about twenty minutes north of our church on Hwy 86. It is a lovely wooded setting with covered eating space, nearby bathrooms and plenty of parking all of which are wheelchair accessible. There are soccer goals, volleyball nets, and playgrounds nearby. Bring balls, frisbees, jump ropes and/or hula hoops. If you would like to stay for the campfire, bring a chair. Please plan to bring a dish to share and your own drinks. Water will be provided. There will be games for little ones ready to play any time: giant tic-tac-toe, giant bubbles, parachute games and more. Then after dinner we will have group games: balloon squeeze, spoon races, sack races, three-legged races, tug-of-war, and more. Greening of the Sanctuary and Solstice Party Saturday, December 3, 2016 Greening, crafts and events: 4:00; Chili Supper and Singing: 5:30 Come and join us in decorating the church, enjoy crafts and events for all ages, then stay for the chili supper and singing. There will be crafts for the elementary school children. Older children, including Middle School and High School children, are welcome to help with the greening or making gift baskets for Women’s Shelter. Child care will be available for the youngest. Grinch Night Thursday December 8, 2016 Dinner is at 6 PM in the Jones Building. The dinner will be followed at 7pm by the reading of the classic "How the Grinch"Stole Christmas". The evening will end with caroling to continue the holiday cheer. Special bUUddies Breakfast Program Sunday, February 12, 2017 The annual UU Pal Breakfast--"Special bUUddies" is a great way for children (K-5th grade) and adults in the church to get to know each other and make a new friend. It is encourages multigenerational friendship. It is held between the Sunday Services. Shelter Neck Family Weekend Retreat Friday-Sunday, April 28-30, 2017 This is a really fun and relaxing weekend out in the country about 2 1/2 hours east, just off I-40. Shelter Neck was a Unitarian School at the turn of the last century and since then has been a camp and retreat. It consists of a schoolhouse which is a now a dormitory, a farm house with private rooms and some shared rooms and a big kitchen, and a little wooden church for Sunday Service. It has large grounds for tent camping. There are bathrooms and showers for all. About 60-80 Community Church folks usually attend the Shelter Neck Retreat. Information about the site: http://www.shelterneckuucamp.org/. We eat, relax, talk, play games, sit around the campfire, eat s'mores, canoe, sing, worship, hang out, get to know each other.
