PROJECT: Assembling Quilts for Habitat for Humanity

Help qUUilters assemble quilts by sandwiching tops, batting, and backing; then pinning layers. qUUilters will give instructions. This project will happen at the church and the quilts will be distributed to Habitat homes at a later date.
PROJECT: Sew a Sunshine Lap Blanket for Charles House Residents

Volunteers will help select 25 knitted and crocheted blocks in sunshine colors to design a 5 x 5 block lap blanket that will be sewn together by the volunteers and given to Charles House, an adult day care facility in Chapel Hill. Charles House was begun and named after our founding minister, Charles M. Jones. The basic production (i.e. design and sewing) will happen on March 2nd at our church. The lap blanket will be delivered to Charles House at a later date after the crocheted border has been added. Please note: No special skills are required to help with designing! We can teach you how to sew blocks together. Bring a tapestry needle if you have one.
Building Little Free Libraries for Habitat Communities

This project has been endorsed by the Habitat communities in which they will be installed. Please note: This is a construction project and is not suitable for small children. For safety, it is restricted, therefore to people ages 15 and up.

Volunteers will help clean up what was formerly Jones Park, now a greenspace adjacent to our Community Church
property and next to Spring Garden Apartments off Purefoy Rd. Trash and litter will be collected throughout the property. The Town of
Chapel Hill will collect the trash/recyclables on Monday morning from the parking lot. Please note: Wear durable shoes and bring gloves!
Trash bags and other clean-up items will be provided.

Special needs: It would be good for participants to bring spades, rakes, a shovel and some gardening gloves. The organizer will be in touch with any additional information prior to the event.

and families experiencing homelessness:
1) Reading and playing games with HomeStart children (9:45 – 11:45 a.m.)
2) Cooking chili, making cornbread, desserts, and salads (at your own home and then bring to church before 11:30 a.m.)
3) Delivering the lunchtime meal to Home Start, serving the meal and staying to share meal with Home Start residents (11:30 – 1:30 p.m.)
