At the request of the Strategic Management Team, the Communications Committee formed in September 2013. Current committee members are: Kathy Farinola (past chair), Alex Pomer, Lynn Harmon, Mark Smith (chair), Ruth Leopold, and Sindy Barker. Committee members have a range of communications experience: high tech and electronic communications, publications and displays, media relations, special events, and communication planning.

To provide support to church staff, committees, and ministries to develop, implement, and maintain a dynamic communications system that supports the overall church mission and the strategic plan.
Recognizing that communications are the means to reaching goals, the Communications Team has identified the following internal and external communication goals, and will work with church staff, other church ministries and church committees to develop plans to meet these goals.

- To help people feel welcome, knowledgeable about, and included in, our congregation
- To make our congregation’s mission and vision highly visible and support the implementation of the church’s new Strategic Plan
- To increase our congregation’s knowledge of, and involvement in, social justice activities
- To develop a stronger commitment to year-round stewardship
- To assist in nurturing spiritual growth for the congregation
- To strengthen internal communications among and within committees and ministries
- To build our presence in, and develop partnerships with, the larger community
- To develop a strong image in the larger community that reflects our mission and values
- To attract visitors and new members, with a focus on creating a more diverse congregation
- Developing new resources to support communications by church committees, members, and staff. (See Resources below.)
- Upcoming Information Display on Sanctuary Entrance Monitor - a rotating set of slides which are maintained weekly using a custom kiosk system developed and maintained by Committee members, also available on the church web site here
- Consulting with other Committees & Ministries (ex: Outdoor Connections) - consulted on c3huu.org web site design and assisted other Committees & Ministries in their communications processes or the setup web or social media presence
- Creating and Sending Press Releases (PDF)
- Inventory of Church Information Channels - a Google spreadsheet which lists many ways our church communicates internally and with the rest of the world
- Timeline of Church History - an interactive multimedia history of the Community Church of Chapel Hill
- C3HTech Twitter feed (public) - a Twitter feed which echoes select announcements from the members-only Facebook Group at facebook.com/groups/c3huu, from the public Facebook page at facebook.com/c3huu , and our public church web site at c3huu.org
- Church YouTube Sermon Archive - this is a YouTube playlist of all sermon audio which has been produced as YouTube replays
- Church Facebook page (public) - a source of announcements and follow-up material from the web site and newsletters which is accessible by anyone on the internet
- Church Facebook group (membership-based, moderated) - if you are a member, please do join this moderated Facebook group of, by, and for, our church community
- Agenda and minutes of meetings are posted and available to Committee Members and staff members by invitation.
