Canvassing. Early voting starts Oct. 15. Join us NOW to canvas in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Durham. We will do relational canvassing that is non-partisan and targeted to those who did not vote in the last midterm. We will engage with folks, offer to check registrations, help them register, locate polling locations and provide early voting information. You will be paired with another person to canvass. Let Dave Boyles ([email protected]) know ASAP if you can join him. Canvassing is the most impactful way to get out the vote.

Sign up to March to the Polls! We are hosting a series of "March to the Polls" events (click here for more info and to sign up) to inspire and empower people to exercise their right to vote, support civics education, and promote early voting in Southern Orange County on Thursday, Oct 15 at 4:30 pm (the first day of early voting!) and Saturday, Oct 17 at 10:00 am. We will hold four simultaneous marches along public sidewalks on each date — each march route will end at one of the four early voting polling sites in Chapel Hill/Carrboro (Chapel Hill Public Library, Seymour Center, Chapel of the Cross, and Drakeford Library in Carrboro), where eligible folks can register and/or vote. The march routes are all about .8 miles and should take people between 20 and 40 minutes to complete.
We're encouraging participants to bring non-partisan (no candidates' names/parties) signs that raise awareness about early voting sites and dates. We will host a sign-making event at the Community Church on Saturday, Oct 10 from 9:30-11:30 am. Need more information? Want to help with the event? Reach out to Wendy Jebens. |
Help get out the vote! Join us in handing out registration and early voter information to pedestrians and stopped cars at the Franklin & Elliott weekly demonstrations held on Mondays, 7:30-9 am and 4:30-6 pm at the F&E corner near CAVA/Whole Foods. Materials/safety training will be provided, and you don't have to stay for the whole time. Parking available at Church of Reconciliation, 110 N Elliot St. Connect with Wendy Jebens for more information and to sign up.

Volunteer to be a Vote Protector. As a Vote Protector, you'll be on the front lines of democracy, helping to prevent voter disenfranchisement. You will observe a polling place, provide assistance to voters, and document any problems. Please note that you will be required to participate in a poll monitor training, which you will receive more information about via email. More information and sign-up here. |
