A Sacred Pause:
Creating Courage in Community
Sponsored by the spiritual Exploration for Adults (SEA) Ministry
We live in challenging times – international conflict, social injustice, personal illness, divisive politics, estranged families, economic worries … These are the things that keep us up at night. How can we ground ourselves? How do we reconnect with a deeper sense of commitment, hope and purpose? In alignment with Rev. Thom’s theme for this fall the Spiritual Exploration for Adults (SEA) Ministry is offering a series of programs with a focus on COURAGE.
We will start with an opening dinner with a reflection by Rev. Thom Belote. Next there will be four “sacred pauses.” Each pause or session will begin with gathering music, a brief reflection or reading, followed by a time for music and a meditation. In the second half of the session, questions will be. presented and there will be an opportunity for sharing and discussion. Refreshments will be served. Finally, there will be a Closing Dinner with a reflection by Rev. Thom Belote. November may bring many changes -- for better or for worse – and we can gather together as a community to reflect and to move forward.

“Tending and Befriending Our Bodies”
Saturday, September 28, 10-11 AM Sarah Clark-Farnell with Erich Lieth on piano. Register here. Love them or not, our bodies are ultimately the vessel through which we experience the world. In this session, we will explore our relationship to our bodies and how to use them for pause and grounding. |
“The Masks We Wear”
Thursday, October 10, 7-8 PM Rev. Alison Eskildsen with Danny Gotham on guitar. Register here. Halloween is a time we’re given permission to wear a mask or costume, hiding who we really are. But what about the masks we wear the rest of the year? What would encourage us to remove these masks and reveal our true selves? |
“Finding Our Spiritual Center”
Saturday, October 19 10-11 AM Jenn Kapranov with Josh Socolar on piano. Register here. We often consider practices for becoming centered in our bodies. We also consider practices to become more centered emotionally. How often do we consider our spiritual center? Today let’s look at the importance of our spiritual center point and what it means to live our lives with this as our guiding compass. Finding our spiritual core. |
“Thresholds: Crossing Over, Identity and Change”
Saturday, November 2 10-11 AM Rev. Carolyn Price with Debbie Davis on cello. Register here. Many religions and cultures view those times when human beings are on a threshold (a border, a crossing, an entrance, a beginning) as sacred. Please join us as we explore this idea and consider what Unitarian Universalism has to offer us at such times. |
-- Closing Dinner, Thursday, November 14 from 6:30-8:00 PM Register here.
