FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ'S)
IMPROVING OUR SPACE
Q: How is our space going to change?
A: The Jones Building will be refurbished to optimize the classroom space in areas currently occupied by the pre-school, to make welcome improvements to the Community Room, and to ensure full accessibility. In addition, a two-level extension will be constructed beyond the back door to the left of the kitchen. The new extension will contain a pair of good-sized multi-purpose rooms and access to a back porch leading toward the playground. More details appear in the preliminary designs on the website and at our Sunday tabling display. To better define these details, we are seeking further congregational input on the design.

Q: How much will the building project cost?
A: The ballpark estimate based on last year’s preliminary plans was $1.1 million. Our Task Forces will be working to gather more detailed architectural, engineering and financial information in order to refine the estimates. Further congregational input on the ultimate design will also contribute to firming up the estimates.
This figure is separate from the amount to retire the 2006 building loan (see next question).
RETIRING THE LOAN
Q: What is the current balance on the 2006 building loan, and what will it take to pay it off?
A: Thanks to designated donations by several church households this June, totaling $250K, the loan balance was cut by over half, and is down to $220K. This significantly reduces the interest portion of the church’s monthly payments for the remaining term of the loan. Even if no further designated donations are received, by the time the balloon payment is due (January, 2019), the principal will be down to $165K, which will be paid off with funds raised in the Capital Campaign.
